Video: "Tiger Mother" triggers parenting debate

China's image is not only built upon its GDP and exporting volumes, but also upon the image of every Chinese abroad. A book titled "Battle Hymn of The Tiger Mother" shocked Americans upon its release earlier this year. The Chinese-American author outlines her strict parenting methods and heavy-handed discipline. Her "Tiger Mother" approach has triggered global discussion on the best methods of raising children.

How does she raise her kids?

Amy Chua, Author of "Battle Hymn of The Tiger Mother", said, "I tried to raise my daughter....."

An article in the Wall Street Journal titled "Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior" has generated a major buzz.

Chua's methods of rearing children may not be universal, but with a stroke of her razor-sharp pen, the author now has many American parents wondering: Are we the people she's talking about? The reason for their doubts might be the state of the US economy.

Ironically, most parents in China are no longer as traditionally as the writer would like. They are learning a variety of tactics about educating kids from their American counterparts.

Most believe in equilibrium. A balance of Chinese and US ways could turn out to be the best choice for children in both nations.
