A new series of bronze statues have been unveiled at the China Millennium Monument. The series features 40 figures from the worlds of culture and science, throughout different periods of the nation's history.

From the ancient philosopher Confucius, to modern historian Guo Moruo, architect Liang Sicheng, and painter Xu Beihong, young students laid flower baskets at the sculptures, and visiting tourists couldn't help but take pictures with the statues, paying tribute to the icons.

During Tuesday's opening ceremony, a scholar of Chinese history, Ouyang Zhongshi, dedicated his poem "An Ode To The Virtuous," to all people who have devoted themselves to the country. As the organizers explained, with the first 40 statues unveiled, a museum featuring more bronze sculptures of Chinese historical figures will be established soon.
