Beijing Int'l Film Festival launches project "Beijing Film Panorama"

As one of the most anticipated events in China's film industry this year, the Beijing International Film Festival is launching its first project, Beijing Film Panorama, screening domestic and overseas films. And there's more to follow in this season of movies.

More than 160 movies from 42 countries and regions will be introduced to movie fans within 9 days in theatres and colleges. Many of the films are Award-Winning productions in Cannes, Berlin and Oscar Academy Awards, including last year's hits such as Black Swan and Coen Brothers' True Grit.

Yan Yujing, Director of "Beijing Film Panorama" of BJIFF, said, "Probably you can't see all the screening films at one time, but you can be part of the festival all across the city in twenty cinemas and theatres."

Schedules for following the event were revealed at the press conference, indicating three forums featuring the dialogue between Chinese and International directors, producers and festival organizers. 22 authorities from world-class film festivals will attend the forum as well as a series of renown directors. They're about to provide some insider views on the film industry for the Chinese fellow movie makers.

Pang Wei, Deputy Director of BJIFF Organizing Committee Office, said, "Basically we focus on the aesthetics of movies. Most of the authorities confirmed their attendance as soon as they were aware of the topics. "

Besides the screening and the forums, there will be concerts featuring a repertoire of classical film scores and a marketing events for film distributors from all over the world to see the potential of Chinese productions and introduce them to the rest of the world.
