Before the opening of Shanghai automobile exhibition, our reporter visited the biggest crankshaft company in China. Currently only a small percentage of TianRun's products are exported. But the company hopes to change that.

TianRun mainly produces diesel engine crankshafts for Chinese big diesel engine factories. The company is located in Wendeng, Shandong province. It was founded in 1954 and now has more than 2,000 employees. Currently, Tianrun's export sales are not very big. About 10% of its products go for direct export. However, 40% go into engines and trucks, which are common exports.

"Our long term strategy is to be a world class standard supplier maybe to 30% something like that."

In 2009, TianRun Crankshaft was listed on the Shenzhen stock exchange market. This indicates a strong guarantee of capital for the development of the company. The executives of TianRun crankshaft are determined to turn it into a Chinese auto parts company with international competitiveness.

Sun Haitao, Board Member, Tianrn Crankshaft Co., said, "We are now building a human resource network system of three levels. It's a training programme for basic level employees, engineering and technical personnel and administrative executives."

Charlie Zhang, Deputy Genral Manager, Tianrn Crankshaft Co., said,"Now we're a listed company, we have a better platform to attract good human resource of our company. We're saving people for our future."

With the rapid growth of the Chinese economy, the Chinese crankshaft industry is experiencing a high speed development. There are a lot of factories in this business, but all very small.

Sun Haitao, Board Member, Tianrn Crankshaft Co., said, "Chinese companies have great gaps with foreign companies in technology and administration. In order to compete in the global market, Chinese companies have to improve themselves in areas like administration, human resource and capital. In order to attract higher level costumers, TianRun is importing international advanced equipment and administrative mode. But we really hope to see Chinese equipment manufacturing industry to catch up with international level. It can lower our management and manufacturing cost."

As a self-owned national company, TianRun also has the responsibility to promote itself and develop together with the Chinese equipment manufacturing industry. It is the same hope of all Chinese factories and companies that they can make their own contribution to the development of this industry in the world.
