Company makes large donation to school for kids of migrant workers

Beijing Centennial Vocational School is the first of its kind in China to recruit the children of migrant workers. And the school has just received a donation of 2 million Yuan from a China-based consumer goods company run by a Malaysian Chinese. The fund will be used to provide more educational opportunities for the poor.

Most of the teenagers studying at the Centennial Vocational School are from families living below the poverty line.

They don't have to worry about tuition fees. The school is funded by the China Youth Development Foundation. Thursday morning's donation from Perfect Company will enable more children to study here.

Gong Ping, Student from Hebei province said "With the donation, the school is able to build this small restaurant for us. The students are taking a pastry course.

The survivors of last year's Yushu earthquake in Qinghai Province were also invited to visit the school. Several Hope primary schools funded by the foundation have been built up in the area.

Cai Rang, Tibetan School Teacher said "We have got generous help from the Foundation and our donors. We will pass on the love to the next generation.

The total 20 million yuan donated to the Foundation this morning will be used to build even more vocational-technical schools and Hope primary schools. It will also fund the organization of the first China-Europe Youth Debate contest.

Gu Runjin, President of Perfect (China) Co. Ltd. said "I am showing my loving heart by helping the children, and my only request for them is to pass the love on to more people."

In the last three years, The Youth foundation and the company have worked together to complete more than 80 primary schools all around China.
