Twenty six children who are suffering from congenital heart disease have arrived in Beijing for treatment. Coming from remote regions of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, the children are among one thousand patients who will receive free treatment in the coming weeks. Among them, the youngest Zhuoma ciren was the first to receive heart surgery.

4 year-old Zhuoma suffers from a congenital heart defect. With encouragement from medical staff and the company of her newly acquainted kitty friend, she has been strong during her stay at the hospital.

She only lost her cool and returned to being a 4 year old before being pushed into the surgery room. And what better boost for courage than a comforting hug and loving words from her mother.

While happy that her child will receive life-changing surgery from world-class surgeons in the capital city of Beijing, being a mother, she's still very worried about her child.

But her concerns proved unnecessary. Wang Qi from General Hospital of People’s Armed Police Forces, said, "The surgery's been very successful. Things turned out just as we predicted. "

But the surgeons won't have much time to rest as they prepare for more treatment to be carried out. Liu Huiliang from General Hospital of People’s Armed Police Forces said, "Today eight child patients are going to go through surgery. The batch of kids today, plus the two that underwent surgery before the holiday, are expected to be able to go home by Friday."

The rest of the surgery will be performed within three days. Because of the longer time required for recuperation from heart surgery, the child patients will only be released from the hospital after a week of thorough examinations.
