Organic food has been gaining popularity in Chinese markets, with a reputation for being green and chemical-free. But while enthusiasm continues to rise, a new report by the Certification and Accreditation Administration shows some products do not meet the claims of their producers.

Samples of organic products in six categories -- vegetables, tea, edible oil, meat, honey and dairy -- have been tested for 27 items. Two brands failed on the amount of pesticide residue and poisonous substance. The result also shows some products fail to maintain the quality level within the one-year period of their certificate.

Authorities say over-promotion is another issue in this burgeoning market.
