Turkmen President visits China

In Beijing, President Hu Jintao has welcomed his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, who is continuing his four-day visit to China.

China and Turkmenistan have signed fourteen agreements including ones on the supply of natural gas. According to the agreement, Turkmenistan will send China an extra 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas every year.

With China’s need for energy increasing, trade between the two countries is expected to grow. With the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations approaching, the visit by Turkmen leader will promote the healthy relations between the two countries.

The Turkmen President will also travel to other Chinese cities in the south, including Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
