Many are looking to capitalize on this crucial link that will better connect the far ends of Eurasia.

Ji Yaoshan, an investment group manager sees great potential for his company.

Ji Yaoshan, Xinjiang Jingtian Investment Group, said, "People in Kazakhstan are not able to grow this kind of pepper. So they’re very popular and sell very well."

Based in Khorgos, in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Ji Yaoshan has been doing business with companies in central Asia and Russia for years.

His company is expected to export more than 130-thousand tons of vegetables and fruits this year, a figure unimaginable just five years ago.

Ji Yaoshan, Xinjiang Jingtian Investment Group, said, "Business volume only stood at 20 thousand tons five years ago, one sixth of our current volume. We spent a lot of money on transportation, because we could only use trucks."

Now with the completion of the China-Kazakhstan rail link, Ji and his partners are preparing to expand their business.

But this is just one section of the massive Eurasian Land Bridge. People and goods can now travel as far as Europe, giving Chinese made products an even further reach.

The border city of Khorgos is expected to become a major trading and transport hub. Trade, capital flows and movements of labour are expected to increase five-fold.Businessmen like Ji Yaoshan and other companies are all looking to strike it rich on this modern day silk road.
