China has responded to the latest US national defense strategy, calling its accusations against China as groundless.

Chinese Defense Ministry Spokeman Geng Yansheng said that China will closely observe the impact that the US military strategic adjustment has on the Asia-Pacific region and on global security developments. He added that the US should be "careful in its words and actions" and view China and the Chinese military in an objective and rational way.

Also, speaking at a regular press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Weimin said that China’s strategic intent is clear, open and transparent. He added that China follows a path of peaceful development and hopes the US will evaluate China and its armed forces with an objective and reasonable attitude.

On January 5th, the United States issued its new defense strategy stating it will strengthen its presence in Asia Pacific region, adding that China needs to clarify its strategic intent as its military power grows.
