Beijing is seeing some strong winds, with dust blowing at 20 meters per second in the capital this morning. The Beijing Meteorological Bureau has issued a blue alert and urged residents to stay indoors as much as possible.

Strong wind is not uncommon in Beijing during Spring, but Friday’s wind has been particularly fierce and has led to transport disruptions. The Beijing to Shanghai high speed railway has been experiencing considerable delays due to the wind.

The Ministry of Railway says it will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of the trains. According to the latest weather forecast, the winds are likely to die down at small hours.
