All 28 Chinese aboard a cargo ship hijacked by pirates in the Sea of Oman have been safely rescued. And the Chinese ambassador to Iran will welcome the crew members when the vessel arrives at Bandar Abbas port.

According to the Chinese Embassy in Iran, the ship was commandeered near the Iranian port of Chabahar on Friday morning. After the incident occurred, Chinese embassy officials in Iran immediately began emergency management efforts and demanded that Iran prioritize ensuring the safety of the hijacked crew members.

The vessel belongs to the Nanjing Yuan Yang company. The company says it will give 10-thousand dollars in compensation to each of the 28 crew members. Nanjing Yuan Yang has two or three ships passing the Gulf and Red Sea area each month, mainly carrying steel, mineral stones and food products.
