Chinese Americans have launched a protest in front of the Philippine embassy in the United States. The protesters were there on Sunday to support China’s sovereignty over Huangyan island.

The organizer issued a joint declaration by over ten Chinese-American groups asserting their stance on upholding China’s territorial sovereignty. They also handed out official maps of The Philippines from 1990 and 2008 indicating that Huangyan island was not part of Philippine territory.

Protesters said they hope the dispute can be resolved peacefully, and warned The Philippines to end provocations over the issue.
