23 people who came into contact with a 2-year-old patient infected with bird flu have been confirmed 'not at risk'. 3 others are still under medical observation.

Where and how the infected child got the deadly influenza virus remains unknown. The young boy arrived in Hong Kong from Guangzhou on May 26th for medical treatment after running a bad fever for weeks. It was confirmed that he had the H5N1 virus.

Investigation shows the onset of the boy's fever followed contact with live ducks in a market in Guangzhou city. The Guangdong government have intensified disease monitoring and infection control in the market and its surroundings. Hong Kong has suspended imports of live poultry and poultry products from Guangdong Province for three weeks. Medical experts say it's an isolated case and unlikely to trigger a bird flu outbreak.
