When talking about Hong Kong, most will think of glamourous nightviews at the Victoria Harbor, skyscrapers in the Central District. Little do non-locals know about this vintage fishing village that we just saw in the previous story.

Tai'O has preserved the customs and life styles of the old times, and therefore become a draw point of Hong Kong. What is life like in this fishing village?

This place is called Tai'O Fishing Village. Just as the name implies, its villagers' lives can not be separated from fishing and water.

The shrimp sauce is not only very useful for cooking in Hong Kong, but has
also been exported overseas.

Houses in Tai'O are one of the most attractive draws for visitors. The huts, called "Peng' wu" by the natives, are set up on the water, with boats as the only mode of transportation.

Villager Liang Huo said he has been residing in such a hut for almost his entire life, making a living by fishing. Liang explained that among all seafood in Tai'O, shrimp is the most famous one.

Huang Zhiqiang, the owner of a seafood shop, says that the shrimp sauce in Tai'O is made in a different way and has its own characteristics.

Huang says, "The quality and temperature of the water, and the method that we use to mix the sauce make the difference."

According to natives, the shrimp sauce is not only very useful for cooking in Hong Kong, but has also been exported overseas.

Nowadays, the fishing village is seeking more ways to develop, such as tourism.
