Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei has responded to the ongoing US-Japan joint military exercises and the Diaoyu Island Disputes at a press briefing on Monday.

As for the joint military drill, Hong Lei says China hopes relevant countries will do more to promote peace and stability. He adds that such actions don’t help the region’s development.

As for the Diaoyu Islands disputes, Hong Lei says China is willing to resolve the dispute through negotiations, but would never give in regarding its sovereignty. China has consistently urged Japan to admit its mistakes and make efforts to solve the dispute.
