03-11-2014 21:32 BJT Special Report: 2014 NPC & CPPCC Sessions |

Joining us now are guests from some of the major countries involved in the security situation in the Asia-Pacific region. They are Professor Takesato Watanabe from Doshisha University in Japan, Professor Zhu Chenghu from the PLA National Defense University in China, and Dean Cheng, a Senior Research fellow from the Heritage Foundation’s Asian Studies Center in the US.

2. Premier Li's report to the NPC included an assurance that China "will resolutely uphold his maritime rights and interests." Will territorial disputes threaten peace and security in Asia-Pacific? Some say US should stay away from the Asia-Pacific territorial disputes and be a responsible power in the region, what do you think?

3. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has approved a plan to strengthen Japan's military. He's also planning to remove Japan's ban on defense exports. What's your assessment of Abe’s policy of "proactive pacifism" and his national security strategy? What are his aims for Japan?

4. Many countries around the Asia-Pacific region have attached great importance to military build-up in recent years. Is Asia experiencing an arms race now? How dangerous is it?
