The three staple Chinese products porcelain, silk and tea have always been part of China's participation in World Expos, ever since the very first one in 1851. Now that the Expo is being held on China's home soil in Shanghai, the country's famed porcelain capital Jingdezhen is making a massive showing for their consummate works of art.

Porcelain can be musical instruments. The melodious sound is churned out through the tender clout.

Jingdezhen's porcelain has been famous not only in China, but in time it became known internationally for being "as thin as paper, as white as jade, as bright as a mirror, and as sound as a bell."

It took nearly eight years for a group of musicians and ceramic masters to produce eleven kinds of porcelain musical instruments including bell, drum, flute, trumpet, and fiddle.

The special set of instruments has been performing in over seventies countries and regions around the world. During the Shanghai Expo, there will be more than 200 such performances in Jiangxi Pavilion.

Visitor, said, "It's a sound from heaven, very sweet to the ears. In my mind, porcelain was just daily utensils or art displays. I never thought that it could be music instruments. Very amazing!"

As many as nine hundred porcelain art works were on show at the Shanghai exhibition center.

A huge porcelain painting "Same Spring on Earth" is the latest work by three state-level ceramic art masters Wang Xiliang, Qin Xilin, and Zhang Songmao.

It depicts images of China's national flower peony, Shanghai's city flower white magnolia, and five peace doves.

Qin Xilin, Porcelain Art Master, said, "The earth represents the world. It's spring everywhere. Spring is the best season. So we think people of the world should get along well and live harmoniously."

Porcelain makers also demonstrated their skills on the spot. Visitors were able to witness their exquisite craftsmanship.
