At the 9th China Arts Festival in South China's Guangdong province, there are quite a few foreign groups performing. The National Dance Company of Korea has taken the center stage by presenting their traditional folk dance.

Simple yet beautiful backdrops, complicated yet classical Korean costumes and melodic folk music, all these formed “Korean Fantasy”.

The Korean Fantasy represents its past 1,000 years of Korean dance. The performance is presented in two different acts, with nine sections, among which two are known as “the Lord’s Records” and the rest are known as “the Commoners’ Records”.

The first act shows the exquisite beauty and nobility of the royal court while the second displays the humorous life and dance moves of commoners.

Lee Joo-Young, Chief Producer of National Dance Company of Korea, said, "The work contains Korean traditional dance and contemporary dance. I’ll recommend three works. First one is Kung “the Castle” (Korean pronounce “Kung”), and second “Rank” (Korean pronounce “Pum”), and the last dance “Three Five Drum Dance” (Korean pronounce “Samgomu Ogomu”) is a spectacular drum dance. It’s very spectacle expression of Korean rhythm and dance to audience. (00:38:00:00) Our performance provides a specialty to audience in each performance."

The performance is presented by the National Dane Company of Korea, which was established in 1962. The Dance Company aims to cultivate traditional and folk dances and introduce creative theatrical dance.

"Art is the very bridge of international relationships in the world. It’s a very important bridge between Korea and China, so this festival is good (can’t really hear what he said) to relations (between) Korea and China." Lee Joo-Young said.

To some of the dancers, it's not the first time to come to Guangzhou, but it's the first time to present at the China Art Festival.

Jang Yun-Na, Korean dancer, said, "I feel so honored to perform here, as the Sun Yat-sen memorial hall has a history of more than 80 years. I’m quite shocked on hearing this.

Everything is ok. Just the stage was a bit slippery at the beginning, but it’s ok now after the staff spreaded some powder on it."

Another Korean dancer Lee Jung-Yun said, "It’s my first time to perform here, so the stage is quite new to me. But anyway, I’ll try to present the best to all audience."

"I really appreciate their gorgeous dancing and the culture behind it, though I myself don’t speak Korean." Said one audience member.

"I loved it. I’ve seen some Korean dancing before, the drum thing, so it brought that back. It’s a universal language. I’ve been to many dance performances and many different cultures. It’s really nice to see that one can understand, and the emission is the same, but the color and the way they do it is different. And you can appreciate that. But And I love the Asian (culture)." Another audience member said.
