Action film "The Karate Kid" will hit cinemas across China on June 22nd. The film's star, Jaden Smith, plays the lead role in this version of the popular 1984 film. This time around, Smith's character is Dre, who is bullied at his new school in China. He learns about gongfu and life from Mr. Han, played by martial arts legend Jackie Chan. The plot of the remake changes locations. Instead of moving from New Jersey to Los Angeles, Dre moves from Detroit to Beijing, where he promptly incurs the wrath of the local thugs and learns martial arts to protect himself.

For kids and those adults who haven't lost the sense of wonder, China's Puppet Theater is presenting their award-winning piece "Monkey King's Adventure in the East Sea." Not only performed with puppets, the legendary Monkey King also comes alive and has a new stylish look, played by two actors, a 23-year-old dancer/actress and a 40-year-old veteran stunt man. Here everything is possible: turtles encircle Monkey King to help him, he flies over the stage on cables, and even battles a new enemy, pollution. His adventure in the East Sea helps audience members learn about the issues we face today. The show will be staged twice on June the 26th. And now, for all the shows showing at China's Puppet Theatre, the ticket prices have a 40 percent discount.

An exhibition currently on at Yuanmingyuan, also known as the Old Summer Palace, showcases 150 newly renovated cultural relics, including debris of porcelains found in the area, bronze Buddha statues and jade wares. The exhibition consists of two parts, the cultural relics exhibition and an on-location relics restoration. Volunteers are on hand to help archeologists in clearing and matching up pieces of the relics that survived the sacking conducted by Anglo-French forces some one-hundred years ago. The exhibition runs until October the 18th.
