The Urban Footprint Pavilion boasts an array of priceless treasures on loan from around the world. Today, we step closer to those from Germany, to appreciate the beauty of a vase made in the 17th century.

Attracting the bulk of attention at the Urban Footprint Pavilion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo is an elaborately created vase on loan from the Green Vault Museum of Germany. The vase consists of two parts. The bottom half is decorated with the relief patterns of guards in different gestures and facial expressions. The surface of the upper half is decorated with photos of German national heroes and carved patterns of usher girls.

Adding to the luster are six giant emeralds at the neck of the vase, surrounded by numerous small diamonds and agates.

The adornment of goat horn features prominently on the vase, which is regarded a symbol of power back in the 17th century Germany.

Chen Xiejun, curator of Shanghai Museum, said, "It is a priceless treasure collected by the Green Vault Museum of Germany. Judging from the historical records, the vase was created by a professional team consisting of goldsmith and sculptors."

The Green Vault is Europe's most splendid treasury museum. Its collection consists of masterpieces of jewel and goldsmiths' works, as well as precious diamonds from the German Royal court.
