China's northwestern Xi'an and South Korea's southern city Jinju have shared a lot. Both are historic cities and chose the same official city flower, the "Pomegranate Flower".

And that's why artists from the two historic cities have converged in Jinju to stage a gala called "Spring of Pomegranate Flower".

The gala is presented to a full house of 15-hundred audience members and millions of TV viewers watching the broadcast in Xi'an in China and Jinju in South Korea.

Under the theme of "Tradition, modernity and hope", the gala invited nearly 100 artists from China and South Korea to display their own distinctive culture, from the passionate drum of the loess plateau of China to the modern drum of South Korea, and from these young bright "swans" from China to Chinese pop singers who are living in South Korea.

The cultural exchange event started in 2007 and is held every year from one city to the other. Folk culture and tourism is always treated as the core of the communication.

Before the gala ended, the mayor of Xi'an sent his invitation to local residents to take part in next year's World Horticultural Expo in Xi'an.
