Archeologists recently discovered ancient stone statues in Yongzhou City of China's central Hunan Province. It is reported the scale of those statues exceeds that of the Terracotta Warriors.

The central area of the statues is about 35 kilometres from the Tomb of Emperor Shun, one of China's mythological rulers preceding the Xia dynasty.

Those statues were roughly carved, and vary in size and shape. Most statues have their legs crossed and are in exaggerating poses.

According to on-site research, experts believe the statues' location is where ancient people held sacrificial rituals.

There are more than 5-thousand statues, all of which were made about 5-thousand years ago.

If that is true, they would be the oldest statues ever discovered. There are reports a large number of statues are still about 2 meters underground.
