The 13th Beijing Art Expo has opened in the Chinese capital this week. The five-day event is presented with over 60 art salons from 16 countries and regions.

Western classic art presented by Germany and Italian salons and artists is a highlight of the expo. Masterpieces from Renoir are also found in the display. This particular painting is drawn by 19th century French landscape artist Jean Baptist Camille Corot.

Zhou Li, director of Shanghai "Classic" Salon, said, "The thriving tree in the background is projecting a romantic and poetic aura. And the background light marks the turn from realism and impressionism."

A painting from Corot is expected to fetch over ten million yuan in the market. Western classic painting is now attracting as much attention as Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings.

The Expo runs until Monday.
