The contemporary dance piece "Soul of Water" will flow into Shanghai on the first stop of its upcoming national tour.
The performance will be staged at Shanghai Oriental Art Center in late September.
According to the choreographer, the piece is inspired by the Lancang and Mekong Rivers. The plot comes from the culture of Dai ethnic minority in Xi Shuang Ban Na of South China's Yunnan Province.
The production integrates multimedia elements on stage with contemporary dance.
By telling how people in this land interpret the meaning of life in a poetic way, the piece shows the overlapping civilizations of the Lancang and Mekong Rivers, which have been around for several thousand years.
