The country of Liberia is celebrating national pavilion day on Monday in Shanghai.

Liberia is known for its large amount of rainfall. So naturally, Liberia Pavilion is using water as the key element to present a nation with a favorable geographical location, and beautiful natural environment and ingenious people.

One of the oldest republics on the African continent, Liberia is a small country with a population of less than 3-and-a-half million. The history of Liberia is unique among African nations. It's the only country that has not been colonized by a Western country in the 19th century.

Unlike many other African countries, Liberia is endowed with ample precipitation. Its yearly rainfall volumes could measure up to five-thousand millimeters, a number that earns Liberia a reputation as the world most rainy region.

Historically, the Liberian economy depends heavily on iron ore and rubber exports, foreign direct investment, and exports of other natural resources, such as timber.

Liberia attended the World Expo for the first time in 1984, but they prepared longer and more for this visit to Shanghai. The Commissioner General believed that the World Expo is a testimony to the two country's friendship and he is hoping for more cultural exchanges in the future.

By displaying the efforts of the government and the people, Liberia Pavilion intends to show the country's readiness for renaissance, happiness for regaining peace and great confidence in the future.
