And in the movie biz Director Andrew Lau premiered his latest martial arts film "Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen" at the Venice film festival. The film's star Donnie Yen was present to walk the red carpet at the world premiere, accompanied by co-star Shawn Yue.
The film stars Yen as an action hero who, when avenging the death of his old mentor, is taken for dead.
Instead, Chen Zhen returns in disguise several years later as a wealthy entrepreneur who cunningly forces his way into the Mafia underworld in the hope of bringing down the criminal empire.
Donnie Yen, who is also using his time in Venice to celebrate his 7th wedding anniversary, said he was apprehensive of the role at first.
Donnie Yen, Actor, said, "At first I was kind of worried that people couldn't detach me playing the Ip Man to such a strong contrast playing this character Chen Zhen, but then you know I thought to myself, as an actor that's just one of the responsibility to always move forward to be creative."
"Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen" is showing out of competition at the Venice film festival, which began Wednesday.
Director Andrew Lau says although there have been many actors who have portrayed the action hero in the past, he hopes audiences will see his version as a new take on the fictitious character.
Andrew Lau, Director, said, "In 1973 we had the Bruce Lee version of Chen Zhen, and in 1994 Jet Li also Chen Zhen and 2010 Donnie to be Chen Zhen, we have quite a lot of pressure with that, because we don't want to repeat again that the old days so we want to make something new so it's a lot of pressure and challenge for me to make this movie."
"Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen" opens in China on September 23rd.
