This year marks the 100th birthday of late Chinese playwright, Cao Yu. To celebrate the milestone, Beijing's National Theater for Performing Arts will hold various activities and stage Cao's renowned work, "Peking Man".

The 1940 play is considered Cao Yu's most important work. Set in the Chinese capital, it tells the story of an affluent family struggling to adapt to the city's changing social and cultural environment. The play will be staged on Thursday and is the third adaptation by artists of Beijing People's Art theater. The cast of actors say Cao Yu's work poses a challenge and an opportunity.
