The seventh National Lotus Awards Contemporary and Modern Dancing Competition recently opened in Beijing. The event was jointly held by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles along with the Chinese Dancers Association.

There are about 60 teams, and up to two-thousand dancers participating.

Contemporary and modern dance isn't restricted by a particular dancing style, it has more room for creativity. It is also much easier to incorporate into your life, compared with other dances such as ballet, classical or folk.

There are 20 modern dance works and 40 contemporary dancing works competing for prizes.

It is the first time a nationwide competition for contemporary and modern dance has been held since 2005.

The creativity and presentation styles have changed a lot in the last five years.

This competition represents the highest level for contemporary and modern dance between 2005 to 2010.

The seventh National Lotus Awards Dancing competition will be held in Ordos City in Inner Mongolia, from September 10th to 15th.
