Leica camera enthusiasts in Beijing have an unprecedented opportunity to witness the evolution of Leica history, its culture, and a historical moment in the development of China's photography.

An exhibition at Beijing's World Art Museum called "Leica Insight" offers a rare chance to closely encounter Leica products and learn about the legendary brand.

On display are over three hundred Leica cameras, lenses and accessories spanning time from the brand's inception until today. Included are some very unique prototype and limited edition cameras.

Most of the exhibits are from the personal collection of Mr. Ye Youxin, a world-renowned Leica collector. He said that this exhibition is one of the first steps taken into China to spread the high quality of the Leica equipment and shows the people from China "why" a Leica camera or lens is such a fine instrument with high standards of craftsmanship.

It has been almost 100 years since the UR-Leica was invented. Fans recognize the combination of hand craftsmanship with industrial manufacturing -- unique in fine small-format cameras.

In the development of photography, Leica camera makers achieved the integration of photographic technology with artistic creativity. For over half a century, Leica has been the vanguard in engineering of photographic equipment with its advanced optical technology and high craftsmanship.

Today, Leica not only has retained its utility as a tool, but it has evolved into a culture of photography. Many professional and amateurs photographers have captured valuable moments with Leica and used it to record the memorable chapters of their lives. A selection of photographs from Leica photographers were also featured at the exhibition.

Anyone who wants to trace the entire evolution of Leica rangefinders can come to the exhibition site at the World Art Museum of China Millennium Monument before October 7th.
