The China International Student Animation Festival raised its curtain at the Communication University of China in Beijing on Thursday. Some top foreign companies in the industry have brought along their newest creations, while keeping an eye out for some hot talents from China.

Ani-wow 2010, as the event is called by insiders, has attracted 2000 animated works by college students from over 40 countries and regions. It's the largest number of participants in the event's five-year history.

Top industry names, like the US's Disney and the UK's Double Negative, have all sent delegates to bring along works and watch the exhibitions.

Five hundred colleges in China have majors in or related to animation, which can produce 200-thousand professionals for the industry.

The Student Animation Festival will conclude on Sunday after a series of awards, screenings, and master classes.
