Lu Xun Literary Prize handed out in Shaoxing

The award ceremony for the 5th Lu Xun Literature Prize was held in east China's Shaoxing City on Tuesday night. The city in east China's Zhejiang province is the hometown of Lu Xun, one of China's most well-known contemporary authors and essayists. Now let's find out more about one of China's most prestigious literary honors.

Authors and writers stepped out of their private studios to shine under the spotlight as they tread upon the red carpet.

30 writers of outstanding short-to-middle-length novels, poems, prose, essays, reportage, literary reviews and theoretical works received the award.

The award is organized by the Chinese Writers Association and has been held every two years since 1986.

The theme for this year's award is "Lu Xun, Literature and Shaoxing." Shaoxing held the second and the fourth editions of the Award. Now, it has been chosen to be the award's permanent host location.
