Rongbao is also going to put about one hundred sand-fired pots under the hammer. The unique technique applied and special esthetics contained in sand-fired pots have made the art form a new favorite with collectors.

And in the pot "Herald of Spring", another maestro Zhu Kexin has taken his penchant for the plum blossom into full play. A section of poem by former leader Mao Zedong has been etched on the body of the pot.

Other auction highlights include the "Mango", "Flower" and "Silkworm" pots.

Zheng Li, Director of Porcelain Part of Rongbao, said, "Sand-fired pots have become hotter and hotter in the market since 2003. Many Chinese love tea, and the hobby extends to the tea pot. Sand-fired pots are not only elaborately made, but also contain culturally intense messages."

The 2010 Rongbao autumn auction opens on Friday at Beijing Asia Hotel.
