The National Center for the Performing Arts has previously put on two versions of the play "Jane Eyre", adapted from the famous literary classic published in 1847. Now the theater is polishing its third version, which will be seen in the theater from the 11th to 23rd of this month. Let's see how the rehearsals are coming along.

Rising actress Zhu Jie who has received audience acclaim for her role in TV series "Lurk", is cast as Jane Eyre.

The widely acclaimed first and second run cast popular actresses Yuan Quan and Chen Shu respectively. But for this production, the director says Zhu Jie, obviously younger, has the edge to portray the independent and stubborn heroine.

Director Wang Xiaoying said, "She looks younger and more sensitive. Her stubbornness is a little bit different from that of Jane Eyre, a mature woman. Her stubbornness contains some exclusive elements belonging to a young girl, which makes this Jane Eyre unique."

When asked about being compared to the previous two actresses that played Jane Eyre for the NCPA, Zhu Jie has her own opinion.

Actress Zhu Jie said, "I had no such comparison in mind when I accepted the role. I just want to fit into the role, to feel and to act, to immerse myself into such a great novel. This experience can also give strength and direction in my personal life."
