Have you ever thought about the process of making a documentary? Today the french film director Thomas Balmès will lead us to the Beijing Film Academy and show us the topic of his recent work: Babies.

Ponijiao in Namibia, Mari from Japan, Bayar a Mongolian, and Hattie, an American girl: four babies from four countries. From their first cry in the world, the audience is deeply attracted by the story of their growing-up. In the course of less than 80 minutes, we're going to follow the quartet through their first year of life.

Thomas Balmes, Director of "Babies", said, "It's a film called "Babies", but it can be also called for example "the life" or "the love", because it talks about a universal and fascinating theme, so you can film the babies from any part on the Earth."

Without any narration, the documentary tells the audiences a completely natural history of the growth of the four babies, a camera focused on a baby catches the sudden mood shifts, clunky crawling and all the other ingredients seen in home movies. Along the way, we may pause to notice the cultural differences between the locals.
