Edward Lam brings "Grand Expectations" to Bejing stage

Perhaps the affordable tickets will leave enough in your budget to splurge on one more stage production. The final chapter of Hong Kong director Edward Lam's urban trilogy,"Grand Expectations" will hit the stage of Poly Theater in Beijing on December 16th. This dance drama attempts to provide audiences with an answer to the question, "What is happiness?"

The dance theater piece is written by award-winning actress-director Sylvia Chang and features Golden Horse Award winner Angelica Lee.

David Wong, Actor, said, "When Sylvia Chang wrote this dance drama, she wanted to tell us that if we could listen to the voice of our hearts, we could find our own peace and happiness."

Angelica Lee, Actress, said, "I think I can touch the leading role Baobei's real thoughts even though I may not have exactly the same experience. But I think it tells us to learn to appreciate others. It also tells us different people have different approaches, happiness may have different varieties."

The show explores the contemporary concerns of urbanites, apt representatives of their generation. The story is about the pursuit of happiness, fortune and other grand expectations that are true to the spirit of the times.
