NCPA anniversary celebration concert

The National Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its upcoming 3rd birthday with its anniversary series of concerts and stage performances. Sunday night saw the world premiere of the NCPA Symphony at the concert hall of the theater complex. The piece salutes the grandeur and artistic achievements of NCPA over the past three years.

The three-movement symphonic production was conducted by celebrated musician Chen Zuohuang. The piece is a commissioned work by Chinese composer Guo Wenjing, who especially tailored it for NCPA's 3rd birthday.

The new composition, a bold attempt that combines classical music with Peking Opera and western style arias, such as Beethoven's Symphony No.9 and pieces from "La Traviata." The result was an assorted feast for music lovers of all tastes.

birthday with its anniversary series of concerts and stage performances.

The beautiful yet powerful melodies salute the NCPA, which opened its doors to the public December the 22nd three years ago. One of its major tasks is to bring ordinary people together with refined music and theatrical art. It has so far organized nearly four-thousand stage performances of various genres. More than five-million audience members and tourists around the globe have visited the signature building in the capital's downtown skyline.
