The prince of Spanish Flamenco dancing and chief choreographer of the Carmen Mota Dancing Company, Joaquin Marcelo, has brought his new piece to Beijing. The show, called "Fuego," was staged on Tuesday night at Beijing Exhibition Center Theatre and presented an energizing fusion between the deep-rooted Spanish gypsy dance and an abundance of modern styles.

Fuego, which means "Fire" is an explosion of light, color, and movement. It´s the first time that the performance was staged in Beijing. It offered an upgraded version of the lust, spirit, and passion of the gypsy dance.

The show is divided into two sections: a "fusion flamenco" performance and an original one.

Carmen Mota, Dancer, said, "The first part is developed from a flamenco background but with a personal interpretation of the concept of a 'show'. The second part is more faithful to the roots of flamenco."
