In order to better promote Chinese culture and the teaching and learning of Chinese at Confucius Institutes, Beijing Foreign Studies University signed an agreement with the University of Rome La Sapienza on Wednesday.

The agreement signed on the development for Confucius Institute clearly points out the goal and new strategies for achieving it. This is an important step made for building stronger capabilities to promote Chinese culture, and is consistent with the new requirements by the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

The University of Rome La Sapienza is one of the earliest universities to teach Chinese among its peers, having begun around 1903. The Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza was officially opened to public in September 2006.
