One organizer described this festival as a big step in raising awareness for the art form.

Chabin Rajkhowa, Director of Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra, said, "The aim of organizing such a high national festival is to bring awareness among people. There is no age group as regards to puppetry. People of all age groups like it very much. The Sangeet Natak Acedemy is very kind to organize this festival with Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra with department of culture, government of Assam, for the first time in northeast in such a colorful way. Each and every group, especially youngsters, can get more and more inspiration to work. Not only for their livelihood, but for the propagation of this traditional art form."

Naturally, the festival featured numerous puppet performances by the various groups.

Dhrubajit, Spectator, said, "Puppetry is a fragile art in the sense that most traditions are fragile today because of new media and things which are moving very fast. Puppetry needs a lot of nurturing and a platform. So this is one, which is happening. We need to have festivals more often. And more than that, we need workshops, which are interactive, so that traditional puppeteers and modern puppeteers come and discuss their art and problems, and how they can move forward. Because in India we don't have training schools."

The puppetry shows organized during the festival are all based on traditional stories and folklore using traditional forms of puppetry.
