Austrian musicians arrive for Beijing concert

The year 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria.

Known as "the capital of music," Austria is ready to offer a gala concert characterized by a variety of the country's musical traditions.

To honor the 40-year-long friendship with China, Austria brings a team of top tier musicians with diversified specialities.

They are slated to stage a celebratory concert on Friday night at Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts.

Afterwards, the artists will perform in different venues in Beijing and Shanghai, for up-close interaction with local music lovers.

With a title of "Sounds of Music -- From Mozart to Pop", the concert will offer a medley of classical and pop music, as well as traditional folk melodies from Austria.

The gala concert is intended to broaden Chinese people's knowledge about Austrian music.

Pop singer Valerie is a rising star in the Austrian music scene. This tour also allows her to visit her father - the Austrian Ambassador to China, Mr. Martin Sajdik.

The performance of Valerie and her band will allow audiences to feel the dynamism of modern Austria.
