The 14th century Yuan Dynasty painting "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains" is set for a historic reunion on June the 1st.

The legendary artwork's two separate pieces, one held by the Chinese Mainland and the other by Taiwan, will be displayed in its entirety for the first time in 360 years.

Since 1956, the smaller piece of the painting, known as "The Leftover Mountain Painting", has been collected in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. In a few days, it will travel across the Taiwan Strait and reunite with the longer piece, which is housed at the Taipei Palace Museum.

In Zhejiang Provincial Museum, experts are carefully preparing for the unprecedented meeting and currently suspended the exhibition of the "Leftover".

Painted by Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty 660 years ago, the legendary handscroll depicts an idealized panorama of the Fuchun mountains, west of Hangzhou.

On May 11, the smaller piece will be handed over to Art Exhibitions China and then removed to the Taipei Palace Museum on the 18th for the historic reunion.

Chen Hao, curator of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, said, "The two parts have been separated by the Taiwan Strait for six decades. The joint exhibition is not only a cultural exchange event, it is embedded with people's good will and common expectation of a reunion."

Zhejiang Provincial Museum has worked out an insurance estimate worth 100 million RMB for "The Leftover Mountain Painting."

The reunion of the ancient painting will be displayed at the Taipei Palace Museum from June 1st to September 25th.
