Festival honors children's movies

The 11th China International Children's Movie Festival raised its curtain in Jiangyin of East China's Jiangsu Province on Monday, to coincide with the International Children's Day.

The movie festival opener was a stage spectacle at the Jiangyin Grand Theater, treating young audience members and the young at heart with hours of non-stop singing and dancing.

The night opened with a passionate song celebrating the collective achievements of China.

Officials and representatives from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and China's Movie Association were present at the opening event, and delivered the opening speeches.

The night of performances burst at the seams with songs of various styles, from duets to choruses. After the extravaganza, the packed house was invited to stay for the screening of China-made movie "Xinghai."

China International Children's Movie Festival, held every two years, is one of the two large scale movie festivals of international renown held in the country. The other is the Shanghai International Film Festival. The Children's Movie Festival aims to bring the younger generations of China closer to their peers worldwide.

This time around, the festival features more than 60 films from 20 countries and regions around the world. It runs through June the 4th.
