Another event featured at the Film Festival is a charity auction that's raising funds for the protection and restoration of China's vintage films.

Many domestic and international stars have donated their personal and movie-related memorabilia to support the cause.

Stars featured in the conference include Chinese actress Jiang Wenli, Yuan Li and American actor Matt Dillon. Items for auction include Jiang Wenli's handbook for her directorial debut and director Wang Quan'an's beloved camcorder.

Meanwhile, China Film Archive will be screening an iconic work from 1940's China, "Spring River Flows East" during the event.

All funds and donations received will go to the national project for restoring China's vintage film copies.

Organizers hope the charity auction and old film screening will improve the public awareness of the need to protect and restore old films.
