More than one century ago, hundreds of Chinese immigrants moved to Cuba. Their descendents have not only carried on the Chinese cultural heritage, but also blended it into the local culture.

Now, let's take a look at how passionate Cuban people interpret Chinese culture at the current 11th Chinese Culture Festival in Havana.

As Chinese tradition goes, a big occasion is always kicked off with the lion dance, even on the other side of the globe.

From ethnic dance to Taichi, from acrobatics to chorus, Chinese descendents and local Chinese art lovers presented a variety of programs at the opening ceremony.

Fidel Arta Sanchez, artist, said, "My grandfather is a native of Guangdong Province. He came to Cuba many years ago with other Chinese immigrants. Their Chinese cultural heritage has influenced the local culture and my works."

Sanchez's works are among the pieces displayed at the festival's exhibition featured with Chinese art. Also on displayed are some photos that have frozen in time some historic moments between Cuba and China.
