Police say Amy Winehouse, the troubled British singer who had struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, has been found dead at her home in London.

Police confirmed that the 27-year-old female was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon at the home in Camden Square, north London.Police said the cause of death was not immediately clear.London Ambulance Services said Winehouse had died before the two ambulance crews it sent arrived at the scene.

Passing: Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home.

Winehouse shot to fame in 2006 with the album "Back to Black," whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop was a global hit. .But her personal life, with its drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders and destructive relationships, soon took over her career.

The scene: Amy was pronounced dead this afternoon after emergency services arrived at her house in north London.
