In Urumqi, capital city of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, International Folk Dance Festival is underway. A dance troupe from central Hunan Province has brought a night of diverse ethnic culture. Let's take a look.

Hunan Province is not only famed for its long history and spicy cuisine, but also for its colorful ethnic culture.

At the dance festival in Xinjiang, various performances were presented to display the rich customs of Hunan's minority groups. Miao people share their joy through dance. Tujia people showcase how they celebrate the harvest through the waving dance. While Yao people swing the body to send their best wishes out to the audience.

Not only staging their own distinctive steps, performers from Hunan also gave their interpretation of some of the most popular songs and dances in the Region.

Running till Friday, the second Xinjiang International Folk Dance Festival also features 15 international dance troupes and dozens from around China all presenting their diverse programs throughout the two-week festival.
