Fishery Day in Yangjiang city, Guangdong Province marks the beginning of a new fishing season in the South China Sea.

As the local fishermen get busy catching fish, one of the highlights of the day is, without a doubt, the mass Danjia wedding parade.

The brides and grooms are all dressed up in traditional wedding gowns: black and red uniform, big red flower on the chest and red headband for the lady. Then the matchmakers lead the couples down the riverside, while all the people standing by send out their best wishes.

A tourist said, "I'm from Dongguan. It's a unique ceremony just as I expected. The wedding traditions seems very interesting."

Sometimes called "Gypsies on water", the Danjia people's lives and traditions rely heavily on fishing and other water-related activities.

As the local Danjia people picked up their traditional wedding customs in modern time, the phenomenon attracts not only tourists and photography enthusiasts, but also ethnography scholars who aim to protect ethnic cultures.
