Actress Sissy Spacek was honored with the 2,443rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.

The accolade follows her long career in the film industry, which includes an Academy Award for best actress as well as five other Oscar nominations and multiple Golden Globe awards.

Spacek moved to New York at the age of 17 to pursue a career in music.

After a short stint in song-writing and modeling, Spacek made her film debut in the 1972 movie "Prime Cut." It was not until 1981 that she received her Oscar for her portrayal of county singer Loretta Lynn in "Coal Miner's Daughter."
