Traditional Chinese fishing skills practiced for thousands of years are enjoying a revival at the China Grand Canal Fishing Culture Festival in Jining of Shandong Province.

As expert fishermen demonstrate and visitors have a try, we are enamored by these practical and timeless techniques.

Though the skills have been phased out of the city jungle, they're instilled in the blood of fishermen along the Grand Canal. Local fishermen show their fishing prowess with the help of birds and nets.

Getting some hands-on fishing experience along side an old-school expert is an opportunity hundreds of eager visitors don't want to miss. The fishing frenzy later transforms into a flavor sensation with a hundred tables set up for the guests and locals to enjoy the special fish dishes.

The festival acts as a mirror to reflect China's diverse culture and long history.
